KEEPING IT NATURAL.

Today, I want to touch on a basic… in this modern age of high-tech materials, synthetic fabrics and man-made plastics, there is something to be said for using natural materials for your home décor. Natural materials such as wood, wool, clay, and even glass have been used since it was invented more than 4000 years ago. Integrating these elements into not only design and interior decor, but in the structural elements of a building. Use of these natural materials adds warmth and character to any space, creating a classic and timeless atmosphere.

Wood is the most versatile of all natural materials, offering a variety of potential uses both in terms of structure and design. Wooden flooring and furniture can add a natural, classic or rustic focus to a room, while modern additions such as glass topped tables or wooden woven panels offer an eye-catching and unique touch. From exotic hardwoods to recycled wood and reclaimed lumber, there are plenty of options available to suit any budget and design tastes.

Wool is a classic natural material, which provides a cozy and comfortable feel. Wool upholstery, throws, blankets and rugs are all excellent choices for a home, offering a subtle calming atmosphere and textures that are perfect for relaxation. Wool carpets can also help to reduce noise levels, creating a more peaceful environment.

Glass is another natural material that can easily be incorporated into modern interior décor. Decorative glass fixtures such as lighting, vases, jars and bowls are perfect for adding an individual touch to a room. A glass inlaid banister can open a stair well allowing light to make a dramatic feature.

Expressing creativity with clay allows for another individual touch. The use of creative pottery pieces, mixing textures, shapes and colors. A particular favorite is vases, from very small to enormous a vase can all be a great vessel for adding a unique atmosphere.

From classic hardwood to creative ceramic pieces, natural materials provide endless possibilities for bringing warmth and character to a room. Whether opting for traditional furnishings, accessories or custom crafted projects, these materials offer timeless and creative ways to enhance any décor.
